Reflection of the Week

“It is impossible to evaluate the help we receive from a loyal and sincere friend or the influence of a good mother over her family.”

Celebrating the 5th Anniversary of Passionately Loving the World

In 2006, the St. Josemaria Institute released the award-winning documentary Passionately Loving the World. Through a series of candid interviews, the documentary captures the lives of nine individuals from across the United States who have been inspired by St. Josemaria Escriva to respond to the universal call to holiness. Through their stories we see what that looks like in real life, in our time, and in our country.

Passionately Loving the World was produced by the St. Josemaria Institute to continue to spread the message of St. Josemaria, especially his concern for promoting the Church's teachings on and love for the family. St. Josemaria profoundly valued the family because it is through it that we learn the importance of "making life agreeable for one's own family and for others, so that everyone can serve God better." (Conversations with Saint Josemaria Escriva, 111).

We hope that you will find Passionately Loving the World a great tool as you:

  • Seek examples of Christian families and individuals in the world today
  • Foster discussion about family life and issues challenging family life today
  • Discern your Christian vocation
  • Encourage others, especially married couples, in their divine vocation
  • Continue to take the message of St. Josemaria to those around you

The DVD is available with subtitles in 20 languages including Spanish, Polish, French and Chinese.

“Perhaps someone will ask how we are to bring this knowledge of Christ to others. And I reply: naturally, simply, living as you live in the middle of the world, devoted to your professional work and to the care of your family, sharing the noble interests of men, respecting the rightful freedom of every man.

When they see that we live the same life as they do, they will ask us: Why are you so happy? How do you manage to overcome selfishness and comfort-seeking? Who has taught you to understand others, to live well and to spend yourself in the service of others? Then we must disclose to them the divine secret of Christian existence. We must speak to them about God, Christ, the Holy Spirit, Mary. The time has come for us to use our poor words to communicate the depth of God's love which grace has poured into our souls.”
